Stinky Ballroom Dance Shoes

Thursday, 18 May 2017 by swalkerconsultinginc@gmail.com
How to Keep Your Dance Shoes from Stinking

Preventing the stink:
1.Wash your feet before wearing them. Make sure to get between your toes.
2.Keep your feet dry.
a.Use hand sanitizer on your feet after washing to ensure your feet dry properly.
b.You can put antiperspirant on the bottoms of your feet to reduce sweating. (May cause discoloring or leave residue on insoles of shoes.)
c.Having an extra pair of shoes and rotating the pair your wear each day can allo
w shoes to have time to completely dry, which reduces the chances of bacterial growth (which causes the stink!)
3.Store your shoes properly after use.
a.Help shoes dry as fast as possible. Use a heater or hair dryer to speed the drying process. NEVER seal wet/sweaty shoes in a shoe bag or other container.
b.Put odor reducing products in with the shoes while storing them.

–
You can create sachets but cutting the foot portion off a pair of pantyhose and filling it
with kitty litter, coffee grounds/beans, or baking soda. Then tie the o
pen end and store the sachet in your shoe bag and even in your shoe. Tea bags also work!
Managing stink once it starts:
4. Use inserts that have odor reducing qualities for daily wear. These can also
take up space in a loose shoe and add extra padding.

smelly-feet-1200x800

–
Example: Odor Eaters brand or activated charcoal inserts
5. Try this Stinky Shoe Spray recipe we found:
-Use a 2 oz spray bottle.
Fill 2/3 with vodka (any brand is fine, no flavors.)
Fill the rest with tea tree oil.
Shake before each use and lightly mist in shoes for odor reduction.
6. You can also try 10 Seconds brand Shoe Disinfectant and Deodorizer avai
lable from Showtime
Dance Shoes.
7. You can OCCASIONALLY wipe down the insides with rubbing alcohol
to kill bacteria and reduce
odor. Do not do this often, as it can dry the shoes out (in a bad way) and shorten the life of the shoe.
If all else fails:
8. Seal shoes in a plastic bag, write an apology letter for the trash collector,
and order a new pair from us at showtimedanceshoes.com

The Perfect Dancers Gift

Friday, 04 December 2015 by swalkerconsultinginc@gmail.com

Dancers have it all, beautiful dresses, amazing ballroom dance shoes, and a glamorous life filled with dancing! With that being said, us competitive dancers can be pretty hard to shop for! What else do we really need other than our costumes and shoes?

Well the most popular trends for gift giving, whether it’s birthdays, Holidays, or Valentines day is customized gifts. There are some incredible artists who make this process seamless. All you do is provide a picture of you or your dancer and they paint an amazing picture to hang on your wall!

Jill Ciccone Art is based out of Raleigh North Carolina but ships all over in the US (shipping cost depends on canvas size). She does incredible portraits and custom work for dancers, families, and even pets! She mainly uses oil paints and has been painting full time for about 10 years.

No Twerking Prom Movement: Students In Ohio Get Ballroom Lessons Before Prom

Wednesday, 18 March 2015 by swalkerconsultinginc@gmail.com

I remember being young and impressionable. Watching MTV and taking my social ques accordingly. Well, nowadays kids seem to learn everything from media, whether it is youtube, cable TV, or movies. That includes “dance moves” and thus we have the trend of twerking.
You know, that dance move that evolved from grinding?
That dance move that Miley Cyrus has perfected.
hqdefault

And this is not a jab at twerkers, honestly, I don’t even know how they do it. This is simply an applause to a teacher in Ohio who saw a need for a better way to educate her students about dance before throwing them on the dance floor for prom. She noticed that none of them really knew how to dance and the ones who thought they knew, were just as awkward as Miley. So she gave them free Ballroom dance lessons and started a dance club, where students could meet after school and practice their moves. She gave the girls a new way to feel confident without being objectified and well… she gave the guys a lesson of chivalry. There are about 10-15 students involved and I hope they get more. I really believe that all schools should have a “social dance club”.

REAL MEN DANCE
Sunday, 02 March 2014 by swalkerconsultinginc@gmail.com

REAL MEN DANCE

At some point in North America’s history, dancing became a “non-masculine” thing to do. Yet men in other cultures dance without hesitation. How many weddings (in America) have you gone to where women flood the dance floor and the men sit back. Women hate that. They grew up loving Flashdance, Dirty Dancing, Save the Last Dance, and Step Up. I say it’s time to drop the attitude and defy the American stereotype! DANCE. I have put together a list: 5 reasons why REAL men dance.

1) Because Real men LOVE a challenge
Do you want to be that guy who can’t try anything new? Do you want to raise your children to be afraid of judgement? If you know anything about being a real man you know that you have to sometimes break the chain of expectation and do something different. Drop your inhibitions and use your body in confidence… we all know women would much rather be with a man who is confident than a man who slouches in the corner of a room.

2) Because it’s a great way to start a conversation
Men are so judgmental of their competition. Often times they glance across the room and “can’t believe she is with HIM.” Well women don’t see the line of attractiveness drawn out, we see potential, we see interesting, and we see dancers. If you want to talk to a woman what better way to do so than showing her your true colors. Hell… you don’t even have to be a good dancer! Dancing is about having fun and if you can show a woman that you know how to have fun that is all you need.

3) Because it shows you know how to lead
We all like leaders, how they can make a decision on a whim, how they can change things just because of intuition. Leaders are charismatic people who know how to handle others in all sorts of situations. Being a leader is also knowing when to lead and a man who dances does just that. When a guy can give you the space you need to shine yet step in and direct you in other moves it is THRILLING.

4) Because real world objects no longer matter on the dance floor
A real man is not identified with his car, his job or his political views. A real man is identified by the way he carries himself, the way he honors others, and the way he is not afraid. Those are qualities men don’t get to show very often while they are in the office or at a bar… but on the dance floor nothing else matters other than the way he dances.

5) Real men can make fun of themselves
A man who dances is a man who knows how to act silly and still be sexy. Take every single dance movie that has ever existed. They always break out randomly in a move that says “I know this is totally corny but I DON’T CARE.” Again, a man who doesn’t care about what others might say or think is a real man.

The stereotype of men not dancing in America is something that has festered into a real plague at social gatherings. Somehow making it “cooler” to sit in the back of the school dance with sheer terror of having to dance with a girl. No that is not COOL… that is just sad.
